In this series, I draw inspiration from Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal in The Great Gatsby, reinterpreting his iconic elegance through a contemporary lens to evoke a timeless, classic, and introspective aesthetic.
Months of careful curation went into selecting ensembles, refining edits, and shaping the interplay between clothing, location, and light. Each element serves not merely as visual detail, but as an integral thread that weaves together a story of loss, rediscovery, and quiet redemption.
The imagery captures a man, fallen yet redeemed, clothed in Gatsby’s grandeur but stripped of illusion, finding himself once more amidst the fragments of style and self. The photographs explore dualities: joy and melancholy, elegance and vulnerability, presence and absence. This tension adds depth, situating the work between nostalgia and modernity while leaving space for the viewer’s own reflection.
Though guided by structure, the process carried a sense of play and openness. Poetry accompanies select photographs, extending their emotional resonance and inviting contemplation beyond the frame.
Ultimately, this series marks my return to photography after a five-month hiatus, a personal redemption in itself. Through creating, styling, and seeing anew, I confronted my inner critic and rediscovered the joy of making work that feels whole. The images are arranged in a sequence that felt emotionally true, a balance between what was seen, and what was felt.
