What began as a portrait for Team Swinburne evolved into something entirely unexpected.

While editing a professional portrait of Alex for a social media campaign, I couldn't shake the feeling that he resembled Aladdin. As someone with a passion for creating the realities and stories I see in my head, I felt compelled to explore the idea further and create my own interpretation of the character.

Over the following weeks, I spent countless hours transforming the portrait within Photoshop, building a fantasy-inspired world around the original image while preserving the lighting, expression, and character that first sparked the idea. Through compositing, retouching, and detailed visual storytelling, the portrait gradually evolved into a reimagined version of Aladdin that felt both familiar and entirely its own.

Wrapped in rich gold tones, intricate details, and a sense of wonder, the image sits between reality and imagination. Rather than recreating the familiar character, the piece presents Aladdin through my own lens, mysterious, regal, and story-driven.

To complete the artwork, the final print was framed and enhanced with hand-applied embellishments before being gifted to Alex. The finished piece became both a creative exploration of storytelling and a personal tribute to the person who inspired it.
